Home Health Quality Initiative
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has defined the purpose of the 8th Scope of Work as provision of assistance to providers in measuring and reporting quality, production and utilization of electronic clinical information, redesign of care processes, and transformation of organizational cultures to accelerate and broaden the impact of quality improvement to increase the value of health care for Medicare beneficiaries.
For the home health care community of practice, CMS has identified improvement in the Acute Care Hospitalization outcome measure as a national priority. The revised publicly reported measures posted to Home Health Compare will also be the focus of intensive work by the Quality Improvement Organizations (QIO) collaborating with home health agencies on quality improvement activities.
